A clutch contains more than just a clutch disc—it’s an entire assembly which uses several distinct parts that work together to get your vehicle into motion, like-a so:

We’ve written an earlier article on The Anatomy of a Clutch Assembly before, but we came across this video from the clutch kit experts at Action Clutch that puts a focus on the pilot bearing (or pilot bushing or pilot sleeve, depending on your application).
While it’s easy to overlook the pilot bearing in the illustration above, it’s a nonetheless crucial part of a clutch system—without it, the input shaft on your transmission may not stay centered inside the clutch.
…And the end result will be a ton of vibration and noise, along with a host of other clutch and transmission issues.
