One of the many endearing things about the iconic Jeep CJ family is the utilitarian dash layout. Starting with the CJ-5 way back in 1955, these Jeeps primarily feature a single, massive round gauge cluster to house the speedometer, fuel gauge, and coolant temperature displays. (Gradually, separate voltmeter and oil pressure gauges arrived on the dash too and, later, a tach and clock were offered on the options sheet as well.)
While this spartan look is part of the charm, these vintage gauges aren’t always the most accurate and, worse yet, yours may not work at all due to the rigors of time, off-roading, or a driveline swap.
Problem is, adding aftermarket gauges often upsets the Jeep’s old-school vibe, which is why we’re particularly fond of the Speedhut line of modern gauges for the Jeep CJ.
