Remembering Heidi Hetzer, A Friend To The World
by speedarticle – April 25, 2019
Heidi Hetzer passed away last weekend, and was mourned around the world. She was 81 years old when she died at her home in Berlin, but before she went she went around the world in her 1930 Hudson Great Eight. We were honored to get to know her over the course of filming her and her Hudson last year, and remain amazed at what she accomplished in her vibrant life. After retiring from the family business at 77 years old, she decided that the retirement of the armchair and knitting variety wasn't for her. A longtime mechanic and car enthusiast, she decided to take her massive pre-war American car and drive it around the globe. Many people talk of this, few do it. Heidi was one of the few, and one that will be missed by a great many.
