Boxer, the Ferrari flat-12 racing and GT cars

This book tells the story of every Ferrari fiat-12 racing and GT car built to date. The boxer designation, used to describe horizontally-opposed engines in which the pistons punch side to side rather than up and down, is not exclusive to Ferrari but the famous Italian builder has brought the configuration to the highest level in its competition and road machines. Beginning with the moderately effective 1.5-liter 512 Fl in 1964, the book covers the unbeaten hillclimb car, the 212 E Montagna; the eleven-year career of the 312 B through 312 T5 Formula 1 cars which won three World Championships for drivers (Niki Lauda in 1975 and 1977 and Jody Scheckter in 1979) and four constructors' titles (1975, 1976, 1977 and 1979); the 312 PB sports/racing cars which won twelve out of twelve events in 1972; and winds up with chapters on the extremely desirable 365 GT/BB and BB 512, the 180-mph road cars for well-heeled private owners. Just as important as the machines are the men who built and drove them, from the brilliant engineer Mauro Forghieri through such superb pilots as Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Carlos Reutemann and Gilles Villeneuve. And not only are their triumphs recorded, but the low points in Ferrari fortunes as well. In addition to the thorough descriptions and competitive careers of all the flat-12 Ferraris, documented by nearly 300 photographs of which 24 are in color, BOXER has appendices which give complete technical specifications, chassis numbers and race-by-race performances of every car.PRODUCT DETAILS Albaco SKU#: zb062 Year: 1981 Month: Day: Language: English Prod # / ISBN: 0930880056 Author: J Thompson Brand / Manufacturer: Newport Press / Osprey Dimensions: 184pg Description: Hard Cover

The Classic Ferrari (1984) The Classic Ferrari (1984)

The Classic Ferrari (1984)

Enzo Ferrari is probably the best known name the motoring world has ever produced. Son of an Italian metalworker. he has employed some of the most glamorous names the motoring world has known but is remembered better than any of them. When people begin to talk about cars. Ferrari may not be the first name mentioned. When it is, it's second to none. Enzo Ferrari - "Il Commendatore" - has been involved with cars for over 60 years, during which time he has earned a unique and unrivaled reputation which is little short of legend. On the racetrack or on the road his cars have always figured among the very best. Many of them - the Mondial, the 365 GTB4. the 512BB and especially the GTO - are classic landmarks in the history of the motor car. The Ferrari criterion has always been total excellence, from revolutionary engine design to bodywork from the visionary styling houses of Turin. and the prancing horse emblem has never been fixed to any car which was not as good as it was possible to be. something which has always been as true for the road-going production cars as for the racers. Here Godfrey Eaton tells the story of this most famous breed. tracing the development of the cars over the years. from prototypes to single-seat racers and on to road vehicles. It is a story which visits every classic racing event sooner or later. as the progress of the racing Ferraris is charted at Le Mans, the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio, as well as the Formula One circuits. From racing experiences gained through the quest for speed and tempered by the pursuit of excellence the factory at Modena has applied an almost unequaled expertise to produce some of the most exotic road-going hardware available. And despite the fact that it is also among the most expensive, the Ferrari is one of the most sought-after and desirable cars in the world. Original Ferrari V12 (K Bluemel)

Original Ferrari V12 1965-1973 is devoted to the cars that represent, to most enthusiasts, the image of a true Ferrari. Two jewels in Ferrari history — 275 GTB and 365 GTB/4 Daytona — form the core of this book. Both have breathtaking style, charisma and performance; the Daytona stands out, in particular, as a legend. This fabulous supercar, powered by the famous V12 engine in 4.4-litre 325bhp four-cam form, was capable of 170mph and 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds — incredible for 1968. Many other V12 road cars date from this 1965-1973 era, which was prolific for Ferrari. The book begins with a look at two cars, 500 Superfast and 365 California, that represent the `last of the leviathans': the big-engined, luxurious, bespoke machines built in tiny numbers for Ferrari's wealthiest customers. Chapters then move through three engine sizes: 275, 330 and 365, which follow Ferrari's old tradition of titling a car according to the cubic capacity of a single cylinder. As well as the fantastic 275 GTB, there was a 275 GTS with totally different styling and softer character. The 330 models embrace GT 2+2, GTC and GTS, while 365 models — in addition to the Daytona —are GTC, GTS, GTC/4 and GT4 2+2. There is also coverage of competition derivatives.PRODUCT DETAILS Albaco SKU#: zb023 Year: 1999 Month: Day: Language: English Prod # / ISBN: 190143222X Author: Keith Bluemel Brand / Manufacturer: Dimensions: 128pg Description: Hard Cover
